Abstract

This article discusses innovative methods of assessing language skills in higher education. In modern language teaching, assessment should not only measure students’ grammatical knowledge but also evaluate their ability to use language in real academic, professional, and communicative situations. The article highlights the importance of formative assessment, performance-based assessment, portfolio assessment, peer assessment, self-assessment, digital assessment tools, and project-based evaluation. These methods help teachers identify students’ progress more effectively and encourage learners to become active participants in the assessment process. The article concludes that innovative assessment methods make language learning more practical, objective, and learner-centered.
